More on Best Practices (continued from last month…)

At Telex Hearing Care, we’re all about helping you enjoy life’s sounds—whether it’s a loved one’s voice, your favourite song, or a lively conversation. But delivering great hearing care goes beyond just providing hearing aids; it’s about following audiological best practices to ensure you get the clearest, most comfortable sound possible.

Our July 2025 newsletter explained the ‘what’ of Audiological Best Practices. This month, let’s look at why they matter?

Why Audiological Best Practices Are Key to Better Hearing

Audiological best practices are the top standards we follow to provide exceptional hearing care. Think of them as the perfect recipe for a great outcome: they blend the latest research, personalised attention, and proven techniques to create a hearing solution tailored just for you. From detailed hearing tests to practical communication tips, these practices ensure your hearing aids or other solutions fit your unique needs like a glove.

Why Best Practices Matter

Following audiological best practices isn’t just a routine—it’s the secret to better hearing and a happier you. Here’s why they make such a big difference:

  • Spot-On Hearing Tests for the Right Solution
A great hearing aid starts with an accurate hearing test. We use state-of-the-art tools and diagnostic assessment processes to measure how well you hear different sounds, like soft voices or high-pitched tones. This helps us understand exactly what you need, so your hearing aids amplify the sounds that matter most, like chats with friends or the TV’s dialogue.

  • Tailored Care for Your Life
Your hearing needs are one-of-a-kind. Maybe you love bustling family gatherings or quiet movie nights at home. Best practices mean we take time to learn about your lifestyle—your goals and challenges. We then customise your hearing aids or suggest extras like wireless TV streamers to match your day-to-day, keeping you connected to what you love.

  • Comfortable Sound Every Time
Hearing aids that aren’t set right can make sounds too sharp or hard to hear, which can be frustrating. Best practices include Test box measurements to ensure correct calibration, and Real Ear Measurement (REM), a test that checks how sound comes out of your hearing aids in your ear. This fine-tunes your aids to sound natural, so you’re happy wearing them all day.

  • Tips for You and Your Family
Hearing better isn’t just about devices—it’s about communication. Best practices involve sharing easy strategies to make conversations smoother, like choosing quieter spots or asking others to speak clearly. We also teach your loved ones how to help, like facing you when they talk, so you feel supported in every setting.

  • Care You Can Trust
Best practices keep you safe and comfortable. We keep our equipment in top shape, follow strict hygiene standards, and stay current with the latest hearing science. If we notice anything medical we’ll refer you to a specialist, ensuring you get the right care every step of the way.

What Happens Without Best Practices?

Skipping best practices is like cooking without a recipe—the results might not turn out well. Without proper testing or personalisation, hearing aids could leave you struggling to hear in noisy places or feeling like they’re not helping enough. You might even stop using them, missing out on life’s joyful sounds.

As mentioned in our last newsletter, unfortunately, not all clinics follow Audiological Best Practices.  However, audiological best practices are the heart of what we do at Telex Hearing Care and what makes us different to many other clinics. We ensure your hearing aids are made for your ears, your life, and your goals, delivering clear sound you’ll love. Whether you’re new to hearing aids or ready for an upgrade, we’re here to make your hearing journey amazing.
